Enhancing Clinical Transition for New Graduate NPs
The demand for nurse practitioners (NPs) has increased significantly in recent years, particularly in family medicine and psychiatry. However, new graduates from NP programs often face difficulties transitioning from the academic setting to clinical practice, which can lead to anxiety, reduced job satisfaction, and potentially suboptimal patient care.
To address these challenges, the Nurse Practitioner Mentorship Program (NPMP) offers a post-graduate clinical transition fellowship or mentoring program for new and aspiring NPs. Through the NPMP, mentees can develop and refine their clinical skills, build connections with experienced clinicians, and reduce anxiety and stress associated with the transition to clinical practice. Ultimately, the program aims to improve job satisfaction and retention rates among new graduate NPs, leading to better patient outcomes and a more robust healthcare workforce.
